Suffering from Premature Ejaculation? Here’s what helps!

Premature ejaculation (PE) is a sexual issue that affects approximately 1 in 3 men aged 18 to 59 in North America. It occurs when ejaculation happens sooner than desired during sexual activity. PE is considered the most common sexual disorder among men and can lead to depression, low self-confidence, erectile dysfunction, and relationship problems.

Conventional definitions describe premature ejaculation as a sexual dysfunction characterized by ejaculation that “always or nearly always occurs before or within 1 minute of penetration” and the inability to delay ejaculation in nearly all instances of intercourse. This often results in stress, frustration, and sometimes avoidance of sexual intimacy.

Many men and their partners believe they have PE if they cannot last more than a few minutes, and we agree with this perspective! We define premature ejaculation as having little to no control over when or if one ejaculates. In short, if you consistently ejaculate before you want to, it becomes an issue for both you and your partner.

Fortunately, PE is one of the more straightforward sexual dysfunctions to address, provided you understand the underlying causes and have effective methods to tackle it.

Factors that May Contribute to Premature Ejaculation Include:
  • Performance anxiety, such as nervousness around a new partner or anxiety after a long period of abstinence.
  • Stress from work, relationships, or significant life changes.
  • Relationship problems with your partner.
  • Unresolved trauma, particularly sexual and/or emotional trauma.
  • Depressive thoughts, including feelings of guilt or being overwhelmed.
  • Poor self-esteem, which may involve body image issues or a lack of confidence.
  • Hormonal imbalances, such as low oxytocin, serotonin, or dopamine levels—chemicals in the brain related to sexual desire and arousal.
  • Increased sensitivity of the penis to stimulation.
  • An inflamed prostate.

It’s important to note that premature ejaculation is not typically caused by an underlying disorder, disease, or infection affecting the reproductive organs. Most of the time, everything is functioning correctly, and the issue arises from stress, nervousness, and anxiety.

Conventional Recommendations for Addressing Premature Ejaculation Typically Include:
  • Numbing creams or sprays.
  • Climax control condoms.
  • Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal remedies.
  • Stop/start technique.
  • Pause/squeeze technique.

In our 27 years of combined expertise, Alaina and I have witnessed many men overcome premature ejaculation through the use of Tantra and holistic sexual healing methods.

Here are some basic suggestions for addressing PE:
  • Perform pelvic floor exercises to strengthen and train your downward voiding muscles.
  • Make self-pleasure a sacred ritual.
  • Focus on deep breathing and relaxation during self-pleasuring; tension is the enemy!
  • Seek emotional support through therapy or counseling.
  • Work with a Tantra practitioner.
  • Practice semen retention and train your pelvic “winds.”
