Pleasure Yourself Through Perimenopause

Pleasure Yourself Through Perimenopause!

Whatever your age, it is a known fact that female masturbation has many proven benefits, such as:

  • Increasing orgasm with partners
  • Helps provide relief for menstrual cramps.
  • Experiencing less vaginal dryness and decreased pain during sexual intercourse.

According to one study married females who masturbate reported:

  • More orgasms
  • Higher self-esteem
  • Increased sexual desire (libido)
  • Greater satisfaction with their marriage and sex life

Another recent study indicates that self-pleasure is a vital recourse for menopausal women to help alleviate uncomfortable symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.

The study recruited 66 peri- and post-menopausal women ages 40-69 and asked them to vary their masturbation practices. Participants were first asked to abstain from all masturbation for two weeks. This was followed by two weeks of masturbating with their preferred method, a month of masturbating with a device, and a month of masturbating with the method of their choosing. Participants masturbated 3-4 times per week during their practice window

At the beginning of the study, nearly all participants (97 percent) reported experiencing at least one symptom of menopause, with tiredness, night sweats, and difficulty concentrating being among the most common.

Over the course of this longitudinal study, reports of nearly all menopausal symptoms declined, with the most significant effects observed for symptoms centered on sleep and tiredness, mood, and concentration.

I had managed to avoid hot flashes for most of my perimenopausal journey, but in September 2025, they arrived with a vengeance—numerous daily hot flashes and overwhelming night sweats. I was taking all the appropriate natural supplements, but nothing seemed to help. Then, on October 15th, I came across the article mentioned above.

Intrigued, I decided to test its findings for myself. I reinitiated a dedicated bi-weekly ritual of Sacred Self-Pleasure practice to observe and document the effects.

With just 3 weeks of regular practice, my perimenopause journey transformed from suffering through intense daily hot flashes and drenching night sweats- to feeling cool, calm, and comfortable in just a few weeks.

Here’s what I did – Devi’s regimen:

10/15/25: Starting point – Irregular self-pleasure, approximately once every 10 days or more.

10/18/25: Implemented the first sacred self-pleasure practice for this study. Still experiencing hot flashes.

10/21/25: Session 2. Still experiencing hot flashes.

10/25/25: Sessions 3 and 4. The following week, I noticed fewer hot flashes and no more night sweats.

10/29/25: Session 5. NO HOT FLASHES from this point onward.

11/02/25: Session 6.

11/07/25: Session 7.

11/10/25: Session 8.

11/14/25: Session 9.

As I write this on 11/15/25, I have not had a single hot flash since Session 5, and there have been no night sweats since 10/25/25.

Summary of Results:

Here’s what I noticed:

  • Hot flashes diminished immediately after the first session and continued to decrease consistently.
  • I experienced positive results with two dedicated sessions per week.
  • Hot flashes ceased completely when sessions lasted 45 minutes or longer and included vaginal stimulation.

More than just frequency, I found that both the length of time and the type of pleasure mattered significantly. The most notable results occurred after I spontaneously had two sessions in one day, each lasting 45 minutes to an hour, and included internal vaginal stimulation. I did not plan to have two sessions that day; it just worked out that way. Those two back-to-back sessions seemed to mark a hormonal turning point.

Why self-pleasure is medicine for menopause

It’s all in the hormones! Orgasms release hormones like oxytocin, dopamine, and endorphins, which boost mood, reduce stress, promote bonding, and create pleasure, offering significant mental and emotional relief during menopause, while estrogen and testosterone also play roles in sexual function.

Many Hormone replacement therapies often focus on boosting these, especially testosterone, to combat menopause’s effects on libido and arousal. Sacred Self-Pleasure practice allows us to boost our own chemical cocktail of life-enriching hormones.

Engaging in self-pleasure is like opening your body’s pharmacy, so to speak.
